Size 16ft builder finds his perfect shoes in Winchester charity shop

A 16ft tall BUILDER has had a find after his mum stumbled across his perfect shoes for sale at a charity shop.

Naomi House and charity store Jacksplace in Winchester sold the shoes to Jamie Cowcher, from Eastleigh, who is 7ft 4in.

Nicci Simmonds, manager of the St George’s Street store, said they had donated the immaculate trainers as part of a bundle from a returns company.

She said: “He obviously struggles to buy shoes. A returns company donated a lot of shoes to us, they were brand new. They are amazing. Nike makes a size 16 shoe and I’m sure many others custom make it.

“Jamie’s mum shops here, and she saw the shoes and told him about them, so he phoned to see if they were still there. He was thrilled because he never sees a size 16 shoe in a bargain.

Jamie, who bought the pair for £40, said: “My mum lives in Winchester and she introduced me to trainers because I collect trainers. I collect them in different sizes, up to size 17. I take between 15-17. I have about 10 pairs in my collection.”

The 33-year-old was happy with his latest find, which he says is ‘pretty rare’.

He said: “The new pair are basketball trainers so they are quite rare to get. I find it quite difficult to get shoes in my size, normally they are £160. They are very comfortable.”

Jamie, who works as a builder, walked into the charity shop to collect his purchase last week and posed for a picture with the manager to mark the unusual game and help promote the charity.

The boutique raises funds to provide high quality care services to children, young adults and their families and, through innovation, working in partnership, good governance and leadership, to ensure their sustainability for the future.

It provides vital respite support, allowing families to rejuvenate and reunite.
